Team for Norwich - Match is off
I hope it's not tempting fate, but I suppose the one positive here is that when you're in poor form and have a number of injuries, a home game against Norwich is just what you want. I think the biggest issue here is the loss of form of several individuals and what to do about it. Arm round the shoulder, encouraging words, keep them in the side? Or rocket up the backside and drop them? I can only think of four players in last night's side whose places could not be questioned: Fabianski, Dawson, Diop and Rice.

The FB positions are a challenge. I thought Ashby looked assured in his cameo last night and unless Johnson has made a quick recovery, he's all we've got at RB. At LB I am hoping Cresswell is back. If not, for me it has to be Longelo. I thought he was superb against Zagreb and I can't understand why he hasn't even been on the bench since then. The only thing I can think of is that his body-language is a bit casual when off the ball, which is the sort of thing Moyes won't like, but the boy can play.

Soucek's place must surely be under threat, but Moyes clearly doesn't fancy Kral, so the midfield will probably remain unchanged.

Our attack is the biggest worry, with Antonio looking like someone who still turns out for Tooting and Mitcham. But what's the alternative? Putting Bowen or Yarmolenko up front has never worked. But if Antonio isn't looking any better in this one, I would like to see Okoflex brought on from the bench sooner rather than later - nothing to lose.

The three attacking midfielders were all pretty poor last night. Bowen is still in credit and keeps his place. Fornals is out of form so I would like to see Vlasic given an opportunity, but he isn't a winger and should be played centrally. The wide left position is a bit of a problem. It doesn't really suit Lanzini, so I would reluctantly play Benrahma. But if he isn't performing I would bring Masuaku off the bench. Yes, we know he can't defend, but he does his best work in the attacking third and occasionally makes things happen.

Fabianski
Ashby Dawson Diop Cresswell or Longelo
Rice Soucek
Bowen Vlasic Benrahma
Antonio

Subs: Areola, Baptiste, Alese, Noble, Lanzini, Fornals, Okoflex.

Sarge.

Spot on, he was barking out orders and bollocking defenders throughout.
He done the rounds of all the conference south clubs in Essex before Hemel.
My local side Wealdstone looked at him but took a young keeper on a seasons loan from Fulham.
The previous season had one from Norwich and replaced with a Luton keeper when he got injured
They have all done really well and provides an excellent stepping stone for them rather than sitting on the bench or playing u23s football.

I saw him at Hemel a few years ago.
Decent but more than a toich of ugly arrogance about him

I spent an enjoyable afternoon watching Chesham united v Taunton instead. (1 1)
Not a bad game in a picturesque setting decent burger & a couple of pints after.
I was also surprised to see Sam Beasant in goal for Chesham having slipped down the pyramid.

It's a diabolical farse.
Min vaccinated clubs should be forced to play and use their squad.

Moyes hangs his hat on the fact he gave Rooney his debut. But he was such a talent ahead of his years it was hardly genius management.

gman - Yea agree, he has hardly gave the youngsters any time at all. Even sent out Coventry, who previously was looking decent in his cameos.

There's a plus to the fact that we can have a rest before the Spurs game and maybe that too.
The minus is that Ashby and Longelo will now not get a game until maybe the Leeds game if that. I feel that both are great options. I can't see them playing with Johnson coming back and possibly Cresswell.
I know some think that Moyes is good at playing youngsters but he's not . He gives them a few minutes at the end of games. He delayed Ashby coming on for what reason ?

Professional footballers with respiratory infections have sat out games long before covid came along. You can't compare their situation with ordinary people going about their normal business.

Playing the young kid against Norwich is one thing. But coufal will now not be available for spurs and I’m sure playing the kid against Son is a different story

Clubs with anti vaxxers or non vaccinated players should be forced to play. Shambolic

Chester

For a normally sensible poster I can't be having that.

Life itself is a RISK. At what point do we stop for something is basically causing 99%+ to feel nothing more than cold symptoms.

At this rate we'll never get shit done.

Anything that attacks the respiratory system should be of concern to a sportsman. Even a mild infection could be damaging as they are obviously putting their bodies under far more strain than a healthy 25 year old sitting on their arse in the stands is on theirs.

Re: Team for Norwich - Match is off
So it's okay to have 50000 people go to watch a game, but you can't get 22 players on the pitch? Fucking shambolic, but that's the way of the world now sadly.

Professional athletes must be stopped from passing a cold on to each other at all costs. Next season rigorous tests for hair gel and body waxing
